The New York Times is the “Anti-Semite of the Past Hundred Years."
From its coverage during the Holocaust to recent accusations against Israel and its supporters, the NYT has often used its platform to slander Jewish people, especially those who are religious or pro-Israel, and downplay their suffering.
Its coverage of Israel is slanted and filled with anti-Semitic tropes
Where were all the rest of the Jews? If it was Muslims or Blacks targeted there would have been tens of thousands demonstrating. Jews shrug and ignore the hatred or just complain or whine but will not make the effort and the Jew haters know this only to well. Thus Jews are easy to target for hate, because the haters know there are no consequences. No arson, no rioting, no having mass prayers on the streets blocking access to for hours on end, and no violence. It is the same reason police do not care, as they know they can ignore the Jews because there will be no repercussions and no riots to deal with. Jews in the Diaspora better realize that acting like 18th C. ghetto Jews, who had no options, there are serious consequences in that non-Jews will continue to ignore the issue, with the attitude if Jews don't care, why should they.
Where were all the Jews, you ask. Well, how many were there? I ask because MLKs first march in Selma was 600 people. Sounds like a lot, but we both know its really not.
So, how many were there yesterday? Becuase this should not be a one time thing. We need to keep this going, term it in terms of civil rights, and spread it nationally. You know, like King did.
It looked like several hundred on the videos. Pretty good for a hastily planned mid-week, mid-day protest, I think.
The clip I saw with Zach Sage Fox - brilliant and inspiring. Adam’s speech - brilliant and inspiring.
A movement like this one needs to feed on emotion, a story, and a demand. After two and a half years of nonstop libels and erasure, and the total betrayal of most of the “groups” many of us thought were allies, the Jewish people have more emotion than we can contain. We have the best and longest story in history. And the demand is simple: End antizionism and all of its expressions.
Thanks to everyone who showed up yesterday. I’m all the way across the country, so I couldn’t be there, but i hope there will be more. With some notice, I would try to be there.
I hope you realize that this is a different era and totally different issue. The American media on the whole is totally against Israel and incites hatred of Jews and Israel, while in those days, most of the media, which at that time, was trusted and rarely openly lied in their news, supported King, outside of many in the South. You are comparing oranges and apples. What happened yesterday, confirmed to most Americans that American Jews do not care, are incredibly passive in an age which is totally opposite, and with a couple of hundred, it just confirms what most non-Jews think of Diaspora Jews. Weak, cowardly, incredibly progressive whereby thousands of Jews will show up for demonstrations to support every minority including those who would kill them in a second if they were in the ME, but never stand up for other Jews.
Some of what you say is true, and I fully agree. However, I think this is a civil rights issue, and that makes the comparison much closer. I also think that the issue of Jews being denied our civil rights is a recent phenomenon, and therefore the reaction will take time. But certainly not the hundred years it took from the 1860s to the 1960s.
Give everyone a chance, and don't worry about what the antisemites think on this day or that.
By the way, I live in the midwest, so hopping to NYC on short notice is a bit of a problem. Are you in the NYC area? If so I sure hope you were there.
Somehow you missed out on learning about the part of open racism against Jews and would realize Jews were banned or had quota systems in place including certain universities and many professional programs, but bans also at certain hotels, country clubs, business clubs, and many other things, in the decades up to and including the 1950s, in the US. Perhaps read Jewish history of the US by Jewish writers. I actually do not live in the US, but in Canada on the Prairies.
This has been an issue I've struggled with for a couple of years. In my town I'm the only person who spoke out about candidates running for city council with DSA endorsements. This happened in the weeks right after the October 8 DSA-supported pro-Hamas rally in Times Square.
When questioned by a local news reporter about why they would accept an endorsement from the DSA after the antisemitic behavior at the rally, they said it wasn't important to them. I wrote a column calling them out, which was published on the Friday before the election. No one from the Jewish community responded with support, although a couple of Gentiles did. The only letter responding to my column in the newspaper was from another Jew -- a local Democrat party operative, DSA member and anti-Zionist -- who roughly upbraided me for having written the piece.
Your voice is one of the few I've read that expresses outrage over this silence from other Jews. I'm only Jewish on my mother's side, and wasn't raised religiously, so I've felt that maybe I'm lacking information that could help me understand this situation. But it seems as though you also don't understand what's going on. I have felt a lot of frustration and at times anger over this. Thanks for writing about it.
Wow! What a powerful statement from someone who has done so much good work to bring truth to this twisted time for Jews and Zionists. I really appreciate the clarity and the truly righteous indignation. It’s time to speak truth to power. The NYT has proven itself over and over to be a vicious rag that spreads social contagion to discourage people to stop thinking for themselves. This current version of the mind virus of Antizionism is deadly for Jews and Israel. Every person who cares about freedom, justice, and being able to live safely without fear of violence should be shuddering at this
Perhaps the majority of our fellow Jews in New York (i) don't have time to be bothered protesting outside the NY Times OR (ii) support the claims of The New York Times (whilst maintaining their NYT subscriptions) OR (iii) prefer to lay low rather than risk getting hurt or outed as supporters of Judaism and/or the State of Israel. When sufficient numbers of our fellow Jews are trained up in legally permissible self-defense capabilities, then perhaps more will feel motivated to participate. Watching the number of video and written accounts of anti-Jewish physical assaults upon our Jewish communities will eventually reach the threshold of Jewish ACTION rather than Jewish TALK. If you are not convinced that this threshold is being approached, then perhaps a Diaspora Holocaust in the US and Europe is indeed approaching. No time like the present to get trained up in legally permissible self -defense capabilities My People.
Wow, kindergarten taunts! How adorable ♥♥♥ Doesn't Substack have a minimum age of 16 to use the platform? Do your parents know you hacked their account?
Take it down a few notches then Gar! Entertain the idea that the new york times reporting is true and that Israeli prions are actually super bad and evil. It would not be uncommon.
Tate: I appreciate the suggestion to take it down a few notches. It’s a bit challenging to do when you’re Jewish and pretty much everyone feels right to denigrate you. It’s why I concealed carry. To date, since the 1970s when I worked in Iran and Lebanon to now when I’m traveling in Europe or the United States, I’ve never been shot or stabbed or abducted. Being able to take down bad actors is extremely reassuring and relaxing. Your note about Israel and prions is received and I must tell you that all of us—you and me included—have the ability to do harm under the right circumstances. Especially when you are surrounded by people who have ill intent. Let me know your thoughts and I’d be glad to have a conversation with you if you wish. Gary
can we make the kristof article into lemonade. it is so preposterous. to me it shows weakness, not strength. if that’s their best shot, they are out of ammunition.
I’m sure the millions of displaced, injured and murdered Palestinians would influence a reasonable person’s opinion on you interpretation of the genocide that Israel is conducting.
If only we can only ingest some of this strength and fighting spirit. Thank you Adam for such clear-sighted incredible leadership during this terrible time.
Wow what the fuck is your problem? So insensitive and rude not to mention sociopathic to come on here and say this shit to Jews who are correctly upset and disgusted. Get a damn life and go touch grass .. you are sad loser and if these words trigger you, it’s because you are a sad loser who doesn’t get laid enough. Sorry a fleshlight in the shape of a goat doesn’t count. People who are satisfied in their own lives don’t go trolling. Bye bye loser
Sorry marzapan! Happy in all aspects, even happier at the sight of Zionazis reaping what they sow. You all love to display your cruelty to Palestinians, and when the curtain is rolled back even an inch to show your horrible prison abuse, you lose your minds! Refill your popcorn and enjoy the show!

From what I read in Israeli papers, there were a couple of hundred. Considering the number of Jews that live in NYC and NJ, that is a pittance.
So was Kings first march. There is a bigger picture here.
I hope you realize that this is a different era and totally different issue. In my view, your anguish, which I share, is more evidence of your Jewish soul.
Ruth, according to Jewish custom(as the Orthodox interpret it) you are 100 percent Jewish if your mother is Jewish.
You talk like a crazy person, that’s why no one likes you or your cause
why thank you. From you, it is a compliment obviously. To resort to name calling means I struck a deep nerve.

You are an insane person. Nobody likes you
If having Krav Maga training and firearms training makes me seem insane, you are spot on.
Wow, kindergarten taunts! How adorable ♥♥♥ Doesn't Substack have a minimum age of 16 to use the platform? Do your parents know you hacked their account?
Meredith michal why don't you come over and gargle my balls
I'm not a pedophile. I guess you're out of luck (as usual)..
Tate, some days it does indeed feel that way. Gary

Yes! We do accuse and name the perpetrators of the heinous crime of hatred and support for those who would murder us if they could.
I have the "J'ACCUSE" poster on my front window.
